When Libi arrived early at 31 weeks, she quickly became no

stranger to hospital rooms. At six months old, she underwent

her first open-heart surgery at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie

Children’s Hospital of Chicago Heart Center. She was also

diagnosed with hydrocephalus, the buildup of fluid in the brain,

which was alleviated by a shunt.

Libi’s parents were unsure what caused her medical complexities

– until her mom, Amy, began to research Williams syndrome,

a rare genetic condition affecting only 1 in 7,500 people. The

traits – such as unique learning profiles and cardiovascular

disease – seemed to match Libi’s.

 
At Lurie Children’s, a multidisciplinary care team is devoted to

treating and supporting kids with Williams syndrome, meaning

Libi can receive world-class care right in her very own city.

Services extend beyond the patient room to support Libi at

home and school.

 
Now seven years old, Libi enjoys life at home with her

siblings, who are her favorite playmates. She loves

visiting the playground, playing the piano, traveling

and reading books.

Me, Jana Kinsman! I’ve been drawing since I was old enough to hold a crayon. I’d say my style evolved from both Western- and Eastern-syle cartooning, and I’ve been heavily influenced by both pop culture and fashion illustrations.

I often describe myself as a super extrovert—I truly love meeting new people and drawing their likeness.
